About Mark A. Chambers

I built CES because I’ve spent most of my life watching good people struggle with things that should have been easier. I’ve seen employees overwhelmed by technology, veterans overwhelmed by benefits systems, seniors overwhelmed by scams, and people in crisis overwhelmed by trying to find help. Again and again, I found that the problem wasn’t intelligence, effort, or desire. The problem was complexity.

Somewhere along the way, I realized my gift wasn’t just teaching software or building systems. My gift was helping people understand what to do next. CES exists because I believe technology should serve people, not confuse them. Whether I’m teaching a class, building a Navigator, speaking to a room, or helping someone solve a problem, the mission is the same: turn confusion into clarity and help people move forward with confidence.

The Winding Road
That Led Here

The technology did not come easy. Mark’s path to becoming one of the most respected enterprise technology instructors in the country was not a straight line. It was a winding road through jobs, cities, circumstances, and callings — each one preparing him for the next without him knowing it at the time.

He was a catering assistant for his grandmother. A shoe salesman at his godparents’ store. He joined the Air Force. He came home early — because his mother was dying from cancer — and took any job he could find. Radio technician. Television transmitter operator. Master control editor at night. Secretary to a nun during the day.

Then a Nigerian cousin said four words that changed everything: “You need a real job.”

When Mark got to PeopleSoft, there was a man named David Richardson who took the time to help him understand something that wasn’t clicking. Servers, architecture, the logical infrastructure beneath the system.

Richardson didn’t give up. He drilled it in. He stayed in the room. He explained it differently until it made sense. And the moment it finally clicked — that was the moment that changed everything.

Not because Mark learned about servers. But because he experienced what it felt like when someone patient enough, persistent enough, and caring enough finally helped something land. He never forgot that feeling. And he made a quiet promise to himself:

“I would do the same for everyone who came after.”

For more than twenty years he has helped organizations navigate change while helping individuals discover confidence in their own abilities.

His career spans healthcare, government, higher education, nonprofit organizations, and private industry. What separates him from many consultants is simple: he never forgets what it feels like to be the person in the classroom who doesn’t understand yet.
